Rock Week

This week I've been seeing "stars", "rock stars" that is. As some of you know, in a past life I was in a few Minneapolis bands and look back upon that time as a great period of growth and realization, so music really speaks to me. I'm also a huge fan of Annie Leibovitz, and in a humble nod to her early Rolling Stone work,  I was inspired to create a personal project called "I'm in a Band". The goal of the project is to capture the dichotomy of a professional musician, combining  images that help to tell a more rounded story of that individual, what inspires & shapes their work as well as their energy, environment & moments in-between. I've been shooting it in bits over the past 2 years and now its here for you to check out on the website in the projects gallery.

This last week, I decided to give it a major kick in the ass and get out & shoot a couple fun shows. The first show was G.B. Leighton-(www.gbleighton.com), a regional favorite and all around great guy (and band) that kept the floor stomping until 1:20 a.m. at O'Garas Garage in St. Paul.

The second was the newly reunited Trust Company-(www.myspace.com/trustcompany), who were off the hizzy! Kevin Palmer, James Fukai, Jason Singleton and Eric Salter ripped the roof of "The Rock" in Maplewood, MN. These guys are back and even more bad ass than ever. We took about 10 minutes while they were loading out after the show to shoot a handful of group and head shots.
