I had the pleasure of photographing the sales & management team at Innovative Office Solutions in Burnsville Minnesota a couple weeks back for an editorial shoot on their great performance as an office supplier. They had such a warm & positive attitude around there I almost asked for an application....
What I found to be most enjoyable about this shoot was the chance to shoot some business people wearing boxing gear. I'm still building up my cash flow as a business & funds are tight but, I managed to get a pair of Everlast training gloves at my local sport mart for $20 bucks to tweak up the portraits. My client didn't expect the additional images but was thrilled that I went out on a limb and tried something different along with the standard corporate looks. This shoot was fairly simple as we had a couple hour window and tend to work fast in offices so the folks can get back to work and we can get back to our video games.
Thanks to Jennifer Smith and her team for their hospitality & audacity to try something different.
Technical Data:
I lit the high keys images very simply with a 2 umbrella set up at f22 on the background and a 48inch octobank for my frontal light from my left set to f11. This is a great set up at the background throws a great kicker-bounce on the subjects back that is easy to control by having them move forward and backward depending on the intensity. Its like having 5 lights almost out of 3.In the boardroom, which was pretty tight, we set up a 3 light set up with the main light coming from 48inch octobank coming from just above me from the left. I wanted to open the room up more as well as light the people behind my subject, so I bounced a bare bulb head off the left wall just behind Mrs. Smiths head & put a kicker light in an office looking into the conference room with an umbrella shooting flat and out the window. I've been shooting with a new set of Profoto Compact 6ooR's and just love them! as always, my trusty 5D captured the images!
