This year has been a busy one for my family, especially my father who has been travelling to Bangkok on business trips and to visit his new wife. My brothers and I wanted to give him something really cool for fathers day as well as his birthday so we decided to shoot a nice portrait of the boys. This portrait was no regular group photo however since we all have young boys with short attention spans to overcome and present in a nice way. My solution was to do a composite photo by leaving the camera in one set position and shooting about 10-12 images of each brother and myself. To figure out the arraingment my nephew Specer would stand into different areas and we would judge the set up from that. After all the spots were marked I called everyone over individually and we shot the frames needed for later. Once I had the images I did some minor editing in PS CS3 and composited them. Why did I do it this way? I have found that shooting composites allows the individuality of the subjects shine thru and when you put it all together conveys a synergy that is absent with a posed group shot. The final shot was printed as a 20x24inch and framed for his house. Happy fathers-day/birth- day Dad.
