I figured it was time to get on the ball with a fresh experiment on foam core flats and short lighting. Todays subject is my good friend and model Armin Habibovich. He will be playing the part of a special agent for one shoot and a rocker for another. Both of these exercises used 3 or less lights and large foam core. I just finished repainting the studio and wanted to see what I could do in short order with a black background and low key clothing. I started by placing a foam core v-flat close to my subjects left side with the light shooting into the flat and a 8 inch dish reflector attached. Rear accenting was a must, I set a rim light up by placing another v-flat to the right rear of my subject set up the same as the key. Above was a hair light set in a 10 degree grid.
I feel that I could have worked my angles a little more but for a 20 minute shoot I'm happy. Next- A girl and a swamp.
