One subject that seems to elude your humble photographer is sports. I've been working since 2000 and have yet to really connect with that side of the world as other projects & life have taken me on other adventures. I did shoot the Minnesota Twins in 2006 on the field, but it was such a quick in/out job it barley registered as an event. The most memorable part of that was wandering into the press box and watching the other photographer get grief for taking a Coke.
The MMA Fighters are amazing people who are dedicated to their sport and it's promotion. Todays subjects are Zach Juusola & Mike "The Marine" Richman, Both represented by The Sterling Entertainment Group. Zach & Mike are masters of the octagon and awesome dudes all around. I shoot some pre-fight/post-fight portraits using a single Profoto head & small soft-box along with some of the action with available light. The fight shots were the most fun. I found myself running around the octagon chasing the action, snapping every good moment. Most of the fights were over in less than 2 minutes, so I had to move quick. It's fun to switch up between a portrait and action, kinda like a wedding with less blood. Keeps me young
This was a blast and I look forward to adding more of these great athletes to my portfolio soon. Special thanks to my wife Jessica for being my assistant and stand in for the portraits. Love you babe......
